ARCHITECTURAL INSIDER

Purpose

To bridge the gap between architects, manufacturers, and builders in the construction industry by providing on-demand technical engineering expertise and extensive industry knowledge and experience. My goal is to change our industry’s paradigm of “architectural sales reps”, and the value they can bring to the table.

PROCESS

We can all agree that the strategy of ‘bidding everything’ inevitably results in wasted time and resources. It’s like throwing spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks. In contrast, my strategy starts with understanding what makes your company successful in the marketplace, so I can match you up with vendors and opportunities that make the most sense for your business.

Process and organization often go hand in hand. Being adamant about returning every call, saving every note, and creating action plans for every project is ingrained in our culture. This relentless, proactive, and highly organized process helps everyone to stay focused on the task at hand to drive opportunities forward rather than chase them.

KNOWLEDGE

In today’s competitive market, relationships alone cannot buy you success. A deep understanding of the technical side of our industry is paramount. Technical knowledge is not the same as memorizing performance stats from a brochure. You must be passionate, curious, and determined to learn ‘how’ and ‘why’ systems are designed the way they are, before you can begin to apply them to real-world building conditions. I’m very enthusiastic about staying at the forefront of industry trends because I genuinely want to, not because I have to.

RELATIONSHIPS

Developing strong relationships with project influencers and decision makers is critical for long-term success in this industry. As we all know, relationships take a great deal of time, effort, and energy to grow. I’ve found that the best way to strengthen a relationship with a customer is to involve them in project opportunities that fit their business model. This is why I diligently devote time to pursuing projects in the early stages of development.

I’m a firm believer in “say what you mean, and mean what you say” as a way of growing and maintaining meaningful relationships. Every day I work hard to ensure that deadlines are met and that I deliver on my promises to you, so that you can rest easy knowing that I’m “on it”. That includes my ongoing promise to you to keep your business… your business.

Principles

1. CUSTOMER OBSESSION

Contractors and Architects: YOU are the top priority. That’s why I purposely devote significant time, energy, and effort into formulating an ongoing plan that will help you grow your business and complete your next project more effectively.

2. THINK BIG, DREAM BIGGER

I focus on building long-term, repeat business with customers. I believe that the value of a relationship far outweighs the value of any one project.

3. BRING VALUE, NOT BAGELS

Whether you’re an architect, customer, consultant, or developer, I will always respect your time by continually bringing value to our meetings in the form of technical information, new product development, project leads, etc. And if you like bagels – I know a great spot!

4. MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE

I spend extra time filtering project opportunities for the vendors I represent to ensure they fit within their wheelhouse of capabilities and timeframe. That way, the projects we pursue receive focused attention and effort.

5. ALWAYS BE INNOVATING

If we’re not growing, we’re dying. Continuous improvement isn’t a catch phrase, it’s a mindset. Coffee is for innovators.

6. BE A GOOD PERSON

Say what you mean; Mean what you say. Treat others as you would like to be treated. In other words: “Be a Good Person”.
